Doing well

Naomi went in to theatre at 8,30 today, and we were called to recovery at 11,15. Her sats were a little low so she was on oxygen for a little while. By mid afternoon we wheeled her bed so she could join in a play session with the other children in the ward. She has eaten a little lunch and is resting just now. She will be cast for a new brace tomorrow, but we may be able to get her upright again soon using her existing brace.
10pm.. We found out the ward has a wifi connection so this evening Naomi was able to read the comments on the blog, and spend some time on disney.com. We had a 'moment later in the evening when Naomi's anaesthaetist was called as her heart rate was around 55bpm, should be around 90bpm apparently. We were relieved to find out this was normal for her, due to the effect of her beta blockers. We were encouraged to get her on her feet, and with some complaining (shouting!), she made it to the toilet and back. Rachel has slept this evening and will spend the night with Naomi whilslt I head home shortly before midnight. Naomis surgeon popped by at 8,30pm to see how she was. He said the operation went as planned, and they lengthened her spine by 2.5cm during the operation.

Wow! That's great news Naomi - I'm amazed that you are recovering so quickly. Hope you have the opportunity to enjoy some more play time with the other children on the ward before you go back home. Lots of love and hugs. Auntie Clare

Hi Naomi

It's wonderful to hear that you're doing so very well. Luke and I have been having fun today and laughing at a short video on the internet about the EcoPark he's going to tomorrow with school. At the very end of the video it says "...Milton Beans" instead of Milton Keynes! Try it for yourself at www.gulliverseco-park.org!! Much love and a gentle hug. Aunty Becky xx

Well done Naomi, we are very pleased the operation has gone well. I bet you're sorry to be missing school (not!) - enjoy your times with your new friends on the ward and get well soon.
I hope you'll be pleased to know that lots of people are praying for you, including up here in York.
You must be tired, sleep well and God bless.

Lots of love from Auntie Fiona, and your big cousins Hannah, Charlotte, Edward and Alexander (not so big) too.

Well done Naomi, it sounds like you are doing very well. You'll have to get daddy or mummy to describe your new brace when the cast is completed ....I remember one of your previous ones was very cool denim look one so hopefully this new one will be as good if not better!!
Take good care love to you all Kim and Julianne xx
